Most of us cannot remember our own year. Come review season we go digging through Slack and old docs, trying to reconstruct work we actually did. This is the fix, and it takes less time than clearing one ticket.
Why It Works
Plenty of people keep a running list of what they did. That list still leaves you stuck, because a list of tasks is not evidence. What changes the conversation is knowing what your work moved, and who was there to see it.
So the ledger asks for three things:
Those three columns do quiet work over time. What shipped gives you the raw material for your self-review. Who saw it becomes your sponsor map, because the people who can advocate for you are the people who witnessed something specific. What it moved is the difference between "I ran the weekly sync" and "I kept a launch on schedule when three teams disagreed."
Six months from now, you will not be reconstructing your year from memory. You will be reading it.
You do not need a better memory. You need a record, kept in the language other people can actually use.
The RHOE Approach
What Comes Next
Keeping the record is step one. Knowing what to do with it, how growth decisions actually get made where you work, who needs to see your name, and what to say in the conversation that decides things, is the work I do one on one.
